Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
Healing is God¡¯s Will
Psalms 103:1 ~ 103:5

2002-04-28

People who desire to be healed may wonder, "Is it God's will for me to be healed?" A man with leprosy knelt before Jesus and said, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean" (Matthew 8:1-4). Jesus was willing! He touched the man and instantly the man was healed of leprosy. Healing is God's will.

God is the one who heals. He made it clear to the Israelites that if they obeyed His commands, he would not bring any diseases on them because "I am the LORD, who heals you" (Exodus 15:26). God also made it clear that if the Israelites would worship the Lord, sickness would be taken away from them, their food and water would be blessed, none would miscarry or be barren, and they would have a full life span (Exodus 23:25,26). God forgives our sins and heals our diseases (Psalm 103:3). Illness may come to us in various ways. However, healing was revealed to us even before the birth of Christ (Psalm 107:17-20). Isaiah prophesied that Jesus Christ would come to heal us (Isaiah 53:4,5). It was God's will for Jesus to suffer on the Cross for our sins and for our healing (Malachi 4:2).

Healing is inseparably related to the Gospel; it is part of the foundation of the Gospel. Christ's ministry on earth consisted of three elements: preaching, teaching, and healing. He drove out spirits and healed all the sick. He carried our diseases (Matthew 8:16,17). It is no longer necessary for us to be burdened with sickness. Don't let Satan trick you into thinking that it is the will of God for you to carry your disease. Jesus gave His disciples authority to drive out devils and heal the sick (Matthew 10:1; Luke 10:8,9). In fact, Jesus' last command to His disciples was to teach and heal the sick. His Word has the power of healing! Jesus Christ guarantees His message, "that these signs will accompany those who believe" (Mark 16:17-20).

What must we do to be healed? We must know the truth of the Cross; Jesus provided forgiveness of sins and healing (1 Peter 2:24; John 1:3,4; Acts 10:38). We should ask the elders of the church to pray and anoint us with oil in the name of Jesus, and confess any sin we may have (James 5:14-16; Matthew 7:7-11). Divine healing is a wonderful miracle! We must accept it through faith and not doubt (James 1:6-8). Even though we may not be healed instantly, we must confess our healing as though God has already healed us (Romans 4:17). Healing is God's will. Christ suffered on the Cross and has already provided healing for us.

Heavenly Father, many Christians have illnesses and cannot live a peaceful life. Help all of us to understand Your provision of divine healing and receive it.
